  2. I’ve signed up for Parse.ly, but I haven’t received my account information. What’s the deal?

Unfortunately, we do not currently support immediate activation of accounts. We’re slowly rolling out accounts for a few reasons. Primarily, we want to make sure that Parse.ly is a product that is consistently improving and innovating. To ensure that we’re identifying and tackling bugs as well as building new features, our small team cannot solely focus on handling support requests. However, this should not preclude us from responding and resolving every support request that we receive. Therefore, in this early stage we need to find a good balance between how many users we let in, how we can support them, and how we can grow Parse.ly. We’re allowing in more and more accounts everyday, but cannot let everyone in just yet. If you have an strong inclination to be a Parse.ly beta tester, e-mail us at parsely@getparsely.com and we’ll move you up the list of accounts we’re rolling out.

We’ll do our best to reset your account, so you can choose a new password.

  6. What’s the difference between archiving and deleting?

We took Google’s philosophy on archiving and deleting and applied it to Parse.ly. Archiving allows you to clear your inbox of items that you’ve already read and no longer want to see in your inbox everyday. However these items still have some value and you may want to access them later. Deleting is for those items that have no value to you. You want them gone from your account entirely. We store deleted content for 30 days and then wipe them from your account.

  7. You say that Parse.ly is intelligent and continuously learning. What do you mean?

Parse.ly is a system the gets better at determining what you like and dislike the more you use it. We notice what items you read, delete, star, archive and click on, and we use this information to further filter your account. This allows us to give you only the content that is the most valuable to you, not to the rest of the world. We’re continuing to finetune this “intelligent” aspect of Parse.ly.

  8. How often is my content updated?

  9. What does the score mean?

The score represents how relevant an article is to your interests. The higher the score the more relevant this article is to the interests you outlined and categorized when you set up your account. Sorting by score allows you to spend more time on the items that matter to you, instead of sifting through all content to find the most relevant pieces.

  10. How does Parse.ly calculate the score?

We use how many interests show up combined with where you placed each interest in the importance categories to determine a score for an article. To understand exactly why an article received a certain score, click on the “scores explained” link on the interface.
